The Skywritings contains newsletters highlighting the accomplishments of SKYMED, the University Medical Center's ambulance helicopter program.

 [Biographical/Historical] Note

Skywritings newsletters, created by SkyMed, is published by the OSU Hospitals Department of Communications and Public Affairs.

In 1994, SkyMed (Ohio State University's air transport medical service) and Life Flight (Grant Medical Center's corresponding helicopter service) joined the Ohio Medical Schools Consortium, which is operated by the Hospital Helicopter Consortium of Central Ohio. Together they provide emergency air medical transportation for the critically ill and injured central, southern, and eastern Ohio. The newly consolidated entity was named MedFlight in 1995. As of 2018, MedFlight is operational and receives additional support from affiliate member Kettering Health Network and other partnerships with hospitals statewide.

Note on the OSU Hospitals Department of Communications and Public Affairs: Established circa 1974 the department was later renamed, and as of 2018 is called the Marketing and Strategic Communications Department of Wexner Medical Center Shared Services.
