Office of Radiation Safety:

The Ohio State University Office of Radiation Safety, established in__?__. Its main purpose is to protect both persons and property from exposure to radioactive material resulting from raditation experiements. This is accomplished by insuring the safety requirements of the Atomic Energy Commission and Radio Isotope Committee of Ohio State University are met whenever radioactive material is handled. The office also maintains a record of individual exposures. In 1994 the Board of Trustees decided the Office of Radiation Safety shall report to and be a part of the Office of Environmental Health and Safety. Today Radiation Safety oversees more than 600 laboratories that either work with or store radioactive material.

Health Phsyics is the branch of radiology that is devoted to protecting the health of people and the environment when working with radioactive materials.
