            <abstract id="ref4" label="Abstract">Stan Hart was a comedy writer best known for his work in
                <emph render="italic"> MAD</emph> magazine; his wife, Jane Hart, worked as a journalist and author for 35 years. The Harts wrote several comedic scripts together during their marriage. The Stan and Jane Hart Comedic Scripts consist of photocopies of three scripts; two were written by Stan, while the third script was a collaboration between Stan and Jane. Materials date from 1973, 1979, and circa 2002.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Stanley "Stan" F. Hart (1928-2017) was an Emmy-award winning comedy writer best known for his work in
                <emph render="italic"> MAD</emph> magazine, where he often worked with fellow 
                <emph render="italic"> MAD</emph> writer Larry Siegel. Stan also wrote scripts for TV shows such as 
                <emph render="italic">The Carol Burnett Show</emph>.</p>
            <p>Jane (Marks) Hart (1943-) worked as a journalist and an author for 35 years before returning to school in 1993 for her master's degree in art therapy. She wrote for publications such as 
                <emph render="italic">Glamour</emph>, 
                <emph render="italic">Seventeen</emph>, 
                <emph render="italic">The New York Times</emph>, and 
                <emph render="italic">Parents</emph>; she also wrote five books under her maiden name, Jane Marks. As of 2019, Jane was retired, but volunteered as an art therapist at both the Sing-Sing Correctional Facility in the state of New York, and a Vermont shelter for teenage girls.</p>
            <p>Stan and Jane were married sometime between 1995 and 2002. They collaborated on several comedic scripts before Stan's death in 2017.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Stan and Jane Hart Comedic Scripts consist of photocopies of three scripts; the first two, 
                <emph render="italic">The MAD Show </emph>and 
                <emph render="italic">Some of My Best Friends</emph>, were written by Stan while he worked for 
                <emph render="italic">MAD</emph> magazine. The final script in this collection, 
                <emph render="italic">Just For The Hell Of It</emph>, was one of two sketch comedies written by Stan and Jane together. Materials date from 1973, 1979, and circa 2002.</p>
