Also included are clippings about politicians, playwrights, actors, and actresses. These productions took place in New York, New Haven, Philadelphia, Columbus, Cleveland, and Dayton among other locations. Historical Note
Scrapbooks are blank albums or books that are used to collect and store items of importance to the creator or creators, such as photographs, newspaper clippings, handwritten notes, and other souveniers such as locks of hair or theater tickets. As photography became cheaper and more widely available, scrapbooks began including photographs and carte de visite, a photograph used in place of a calling card, during the 1800s. The first self-pasting scrapbook was invented in 1873 by Mark Twain. In 1981, Marielen Wadley Christensen started the modern scrapbook movement by creating scrapbooks that contained individual sheets of paper in plastic binder sleeves, allowing scrapbookers greater customization in materials and layouts.

The Scrapbook Collection contains scrapbooks on stage performances and other theatrical productions. Material in the scrapbooks includes theatrical reviews, cast lists, playbills, article clippings, and play, music, and theatre programs. Also included are clippings about politicians, playwrights, actors, and actresses. These productions took place in New York, New Haven, Philadelphia, Columbus, Cleveland, and Dayton among other locations. Ohio State University theatre, Players Theatre, Cleveland theatre, Hartman Theatre, and Hartman Stock Company are some of the theatres named in these scrapbooks. Materials are dated 1866-1979.
