Pageants often incorporate colorful and elaborate costumes, sets, and floats created by community members. This collection contains a pageant program from 1908.</abstract>

            <p>Pageants are community wide festivals that date back to medieval times. They incorporate a narrative structure to reenact and educate about historical events. They can depict a variety of different events in biblical, political, and local or national history. Pageants often involve community participation. Community members act in the performance or contribute by creating elaborate and colorful costumes, sets, props, or floats. Having whole communities in engage in collaborative efforts to stage a pageant, not only allows the community to engage with the past, but it also creates a sense of communal pride and awareness.</p>
