Biographical Note

Margaret “Maggie” Patton (1940-2011) was a choreographer, director, and dance professor at Kenyon College. She started her own dance company, Dancentral, Columbus’ first professional dance company. Patton created over seventy dance programs for seasons and tours. She was a choreographer of the Ohio Light Opera beginning in 1979, and worked there for eleven seasons.

The Maggie Patton Papers contain materials dated 1946-2008, with the bulk of the materials from 1973-2008. These materials include production notes, clippings, slides, photographs, librettos, scores, programs, and papers related to Maggie Patton's activities as a choreographer, director, and dance professor, including with the Dancentral company. Also included are VHS videocassettes, audiocassettes, U-matic videocassettes, DVDs, compact discs, magnetic tapes, and a film case that contain recordings of performances.
