            <p>Gian Carlo Menotti (1911-2007) was an Italian-American composer of operas and librettist. He won two Pulitzer Prizes during his career; the first in 1950, for "The Consul," his first full-length opera, and the second for "The Saint of Bleecker Street" in 1955.</p>
