As of 2019, the Dalcroze Society of America (DSA) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the ideas and teachings of Émile Jaques-Dalcroze (1865-1950), a composer and musician who developed the eurythmics system for musical instruction. Jaques-Dalcroze felt that his students would improve as musicians if they developed a better grasp of rhythm, and developed exercises to allow students to physically express musical patterns they heard. In the Dalcroze system for example, a quarter note would be expressed by taking one step. The Dalcroze Society of America works with musicians, dancers, actors, therapists, and art educators throughout the United States, as well as other eurythmic organizations internationally, such as La Federation Internationale des Enseignants.
