Donald R. Glancy was an American theatre professor at the Ohio State University from 1963-1989, who focused his research on dramatic theory and literature. The Donald R. Glancy Papers contains photographs, annotated scripts, and stage plans for productions that Glancy directed or participated in. The collection also contains Glancy's thesis drafts and annotated journals and articles that Glancy was an editor for. It contains bibliographies that Glancy created about different kinds of theater. Also included in the collection are photographs,and programs that he collected from other theatre productions that he was not directly associated with. The collection materials date from 1920 to 1989.

Biographical Note
Donald R. Glancy (1927–1992) was a theatre professor at the Ohio State University from 1963-1989. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1949 at DePaul University and his master's degree in 1959 at Indiana University. Glancy taught speech and theatre in high schools in Ohio and Michigan between 1953 and 1959. In 1963, he began his work as an associate professor at the Ohio State University. During his tenure at Ohio State, Glancy focused his research on dramatic theory and literature while also advising multiple theses and dissertations. Along with his work as a professor, he was a member of the University Senate, the Executive Committee of the Graduate School, and the Research Committee. Outside of his commitments with the university, Glancy was an occasional guest director at the Columbus Light Opera Company. After his retirement in 1989, Glancy gained the title of Associate Professor Emeritus in 1990.
