As of 2025, Filloux continues to write plays and work as a human rights activist. The Catherine Filloux Collection contains materials from her playwriting and human rights activism, including programs, playscripts, and ephemera from Filloux's plays and operas, as well as articles by or about Filloux, and programs from events attended by Filloux. Materials date from 1984 and 1999 to 2020.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Catherine Filloux is a French Algerian American playwright, librettist, and activist who writes about human rights. She received her French Baccalaureate in Philosophy with Honors in Toulon, France in 1978, and her Master of Fine Arts at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts in 1987. Filloux’s plays have been produced across the United States and internationally, and have been widely anthologized. A complete list of her plays and opera libretti can be found on her website. Filloux has staged her plays overseas in conflict areas including Bosnia, Cambodia, Guatemala, Haiti, and Iraq. She is also the co-founder and co-director of Theatre Without Borders, a grassroots volunteer organization that shares information and builds connection between those interested in international theater. Filloux has received dozens of awards and honors for her playwriting, and has been featured in publications such as “The Dramatist” and “Contemporary Theatre Review.” She also has done translations and adaptations of articles and theatrical works from other languages into English. As of 2025, Filloux’s play “Third Person” premiered at CultureHub in New York City, and she has an opera, “Allegra &amp; the Cello, in Movements” premiering in 2026. She continues to write plays and work as a human rights activist.</p>
