Karen Boudrie Greig is, as of 2023, a business owner and former journalist based in a suburb of New Orleans, Louisiana. Born in Columbus, Ohio and raised in Cincinnati, she earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Ohio State University in 1982. After ten years in broadcasting, Greig moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1992 and worked as a reporter and news anchor until 2001, when she started her own marketing and public relations firm. Greig also served as President of the Military Officers’ Wives Club of Greater New Orleans. Through this club, Greig became connected with the Mystic Krewe of Nyx, an all-female Carnival krewe organization named after Nyx, the Greek goddess of the night. In January 2018, Greig was elected the seventh Goddess of the Mystic Krewe of Nyx, and led various events in her role as Goddess throughout the next month, including a brunch, a masquerade ball, and a Mardi Gras parade that took place on February 7, 2018.
The Karen Boudrie Greig Dress and Accessories Worn as Goddess of Nyx VII for Mystic Krewe of Nyx, dated 2018 January-February, contains items related to Karen Boudrie Greig's role as Goddess of Nyx VII during the 2018 New Orleans Mardi Gras season. The collection contains two dresses, one that Greig wore before the parade and another she wore during, as well as the accessories that she wore with each of those dresses. In addition, the collection contains ephemera related to other events during Greig's reign as Goddess, including a brunch, a masquerade ball, and an unidentified event or multiple unidentified event; and items, known as "throws," thrown by Greig or other members of the Mystic Krewe of Nyx during the Mardi Gras parade held on February 7, 2018.
