            <head>Biographical Note</head>
<p>Vera Maletić (1928-2015) grew up in Croatia, where she studied in her mother's modern dance school in Zagreb and trained in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Laban Movement, and Choreography. She also performed folk dances of her country. Maletić received her undergraduate degree in Art history and then pursued advanced Laban training in England. She served on the faculty of the Laban Art of Movement Studio, now the Laban Centre of Movement and Dance. She earned her doctorate degree from Ohio State University (OSU) and then joined the faculty in the Department of Dance in 1977 until she retired in 2000. Maletić wrote a book,
<emph render="italic">Body – Space – Expression: The Development of Rudolf Laban’s Movement and Dance Concepts</emph>, and developed Laban Studies as a central focus of the curriculum during the 1980s and 1990s.</p>
