Mary Wilson (1944-2021) was an American vocalist and an original founding member of The Supremes, an all-female singing group active during the 1960s and 1970s. The group was originally formed as The Primettes in 1959, with four members, including Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, Diana Ross, and Betty McGlown. After the departure of McGlown in 1960, Barbara Martin joined the group and they signed with Motown Records in 1961 as The Supremes. Martin left the group in 1962, and the remaining members continued as a trio. The Supremes had several other changes to the lineup throughout the years, with Wilson the sole remaining founding singer until her departure in 1977, after which the group disbanded.

Mary Wilson married her manager, Pedro Ferrer, in 1974, and together they had three children. After leaving The Supremes in 1977, Wilson was involved in a legal battle with Motown Records over the use of The Supremes' name in her solo work. After settling out of court, she signed with Motown as a soloist, releasing three albums between 1979 and 2000. Wilson and Ferrer divorced in 1981. She was involved in another lawsuit in the 1990s against replacement singers Lynda Laurence and Scherrie Payne over the rights to use The Supremes name after the group reformed without any of the original founding singers in 1986.
