Leon K. Walters, Jr. received both a bachelor's in 1948 and a master's degree in 1953 from Ohio State University. Walters worked in the United States Civil Administration of Okinawa, Japan from 1964-1972. Walters collected books and realia related to Okinawa's history, literature, and traditions and donated his collection to Ohio State University Libraries in 1982 and again in the late 1990s.
The Leon K. Walters, Jr. Papers contains an article written by Walters about his Okinawa book collection, copies of Ohio State Libraries bookplates related to Walters' donation, and 6 scripts related to Okinawan dance and theatre. The materials in this collection date from circa 1970s-1997.
