Biographical Note
Janet Waldo Lee (1919-2016) was an actress who worked in radio, film, and television. Although she began her career acting in small film projects, the majority of her career involved voice acting, starting with radio roles in the 1940s. Waldo began working with
Lux Radio Theatre in 1941, and starred on the
Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet beginning in 1944. She also starred as the teenager Corliss Archer on the CBS series
Meet Corliss Archer, from 1946 to 1956. In television, Waldo worked mainly with animated programs, in particular, as the voice of Judy Jetson on the series
The Jetsons. She also had roles on
The Flintstones,
Josie and the Pussycats,
The Smurfs,
The Addams Family, and many others. Waldo married well known playwright Robert E. Lee in 1948.

The Janet Lee Waldo Papers contains radio and television scripts used and annotated by Janet Waldo Lee throughout her acting career. Most of the radio scripts are for the program
Meet Corliss Archer, and most of the television scripts are for animated children's shows such as
The Jetsons,
Josie and the Pussycats, and
Flintstones. The collection also includes scripts for animated films, television commercials, and theater plays or events that Waldo participated in, as well as some show-related ephemera such as a calendar, magazines, a magnetic audio recording, U-matic videocassettes, and two framed CBS posters. The collection dates from circa 1940s-2011.
