 Biographical Note

Sherry Eaker is a writer, editor, theater critic, and producer residing in New York City as of 2018. She worked as an editor-in-chief of Backstage, a magazine and resource directory for the entertainment industry, from 1977 to 2008. In 1990, Eaker began co-producing the Bistro Awards Show, later bringing it under her own production company. Eaker has been involved with a number of theatre-related organizations, including the American Theatre Critics Association, and has reviewed theater performances across the United States.

 Scope and Contents

The Sherry Eaker Papers contain Playbills and other theater programs from performances in London, Las Vegas, and New York City. The collection contains Broadway, Off-Broadway, dance, opera, Fringe Theatre, and awards ceremonies programs. Programs from Las Vegas performances are mainly souvenir programs. The collection also includes programs from the Humana Festival of New American Plays at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, and how-to guides from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The collection dates from 1970-2014.
