            <abstract id="ref2" label="Abstract">Edwin V. Bosley (1921-1991) was enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. He became a member of the 561st Field Artillery Battalion. The Battalion participated in the Battle of the Bulge where their duties included long range interdiction missions and facilitating road junctions and escape routes. The Edwin V. Bosley Papers consists of church service programs, a photograph of Edwin V. Bosley, a Victory of Japan Day newspaper article and ceremony program, military cartoons, and two books and one magazine, dating 1944-1945.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Edwin V. Bosley (1921-1991) was enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. He became a member of the 561st Field Artillery Battalion. The Battalion was stationed in Europe from July 9, 1943 – October 6, 1945. The Battalion participated in the Battle of the Bulge where their duties included long range interdiction missions and facilitating road junctions and escape routes.</p>
            <p>The Battle of the Bulge, also known as the Ardennes Offensive, was the last German offensive campaign on the Western Front during the Second World War. It lasted from December 16, 1944 to January 25, 1945. The offensive spanned 75 miles through the Ardennes Forest. The Battle of the Bulge was the largest and bloodiest single battle fought by the United States in World War II with 81,000 casualties.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Edwin V. Bosley Papers consists of church service programs, a photograph of Edwin V. Bosley, a Victory of Japan Day newspaper article and ceremony program, military cartoons, two books and one magazine, dating 1944-1945. The books are titled: "One Hundred and Eighty Days, XIII Corps" and "The 561st Field Artillery Battalion." The magazine is titled: "Polaris Volume 2, No. 2." Bosley's name is written inside the front covers of "One Hundred and Eighty Days, XIII Corps” and "The 561st Field Artillery Battalion" books. A photograph of Bosley handling an artillery weapon is inside "The 561st Field Artillery Battalion” book. It is unknown why Bosley had the "Polaris Volume 2, No. 2," a United States Navy magazine, with his papers.</p>
