Dates were ranked on a variety of areas including conversational skills, dancing skills, hobbies, and schools attended. Collection material dates 1939-1947.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Mary Therese Walsh was a high school student attending Pittsfield High School in Pittsfield, Massachusetts around 1944 to 1947. Walsh married Alexander P. Taft in 1967 and spent the rest of her life in Springfield, Massachusetts. She raised six children with Alexander, all of whom lived in Springfield.</p>

            <p>The "Him Book" Kept by Mary Therese Walsh of Pittsfield, Massachusetts contains one notebook filled with prompts for the writer to fill out regarding the details of dates and how they would be rated. Dates were ranked on a variety of areas including conversational skills, dancing skills, hobbies, and schools attended. The book has been filled in by Walsh and includes her comments for each date. Photographs of the boys she dated are also included. The majority of the entries are dated 1944 to 1945, with earlier dates starting at 1939 and ending with 1947.</p>
