In the British Iles and Europe during the late 19th and early 20th century there was an art and design movement that criticized the rise in manufactured goods, known as the Arts and Crafts movement. During this time, another movement in opposition to machinery and factory production began called the Private Press movement, which came out of the Arts and Crafts movement and had an emphasis on the book as a work of art and manual skill.
Gouache paint, also known as opaque watercolor, is a water medium paint consisting of natural pigment, water, a filler, and some form of binding agent.
