            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Joseph Charles Kennedy (later known as X.J. Kennedy, born 1929) was an American author and professor from Dover, New Jersey. He was active in science fiction fandom as a teenager and joined the Fantasy Amateur Press Association (FAPA) in 1946 to publish and distribute his fanzine 
                <emph render="italic">Grulzak</emph>. After the final issue's publication in 1948, Kennedy turned his attention to writing science fiction stories for magazines. Kennedy was a graduate of Seton Hall University and Columbia University, and later became an English professor at various universities, spending the bulk of his career at Tufts University. Although he began his writing career in science fiction, Kennedy was best known for his poetry and children's literature.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>
                <emph render="italic">Grulzak</emph>, also known as 
                <emph render="italic">Kennedy Presents Grulzak</emph>, was a science fiction fanzine created by Joe Kennedy of Dover, New Jersey in three issues from 1946 to 1948. The first issue was released in October 1946, the second in Fall 1947, and the third in Spring 1948. The publication contains stories, reviews, opinion pieces, and cartoons by Kennedy and some collaborators.</p>
