<p>Arthur Wilson "Bob" Tucker (1914-2006) was an American science fiction and fantasy author from Bloomington, Illinois. As a youth, he was involved in the science fiction fandom, publishing his first fanzine at age 17. He later published
<emph render="italic">Le Zombie</emph>, a fanzine that lasted from 1938 to 2001. Tucker wrote novels and short stories, and won numerous awards throughout his career, including induction into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 2003.</p>
<p>A student of science fiction history, Tucker was also known for coining new terms related to science fiction and its fandom, including "space opera." Along with his writing career, Tucker's full-time occupation was as a film projectionist in Bloomington. He died in St. Petersburg, Florida, at the age of 91.</p>
