Annie Olmstead Peet (1883-1972) was a cartographer and local historian who made 17 different maps over her lifetime, many depicting local counties in New York. Her maps were not drawn to scale, but were drawn with notable historical events, buildings, and battles marked by a sketch and a brief description of the event. This particular map was drawn while she lived in Utica, New York.

 Scope and Contents

"A Map Depicting Rochester and the Genesee Country" by Annie Olmstead Peet is a pictorial map showing the history of Rochester and Genesee County, New York through events spanning 1615-1827. It was drawn in 1926 by Annie Olmstead Peet, a local historian and cartographer, and presented to members of The American Historical Association. The map is accompanied by an envelope with the Historical Association's name printed on it.
