            <abstract id="ref6" label="Abstract">Robert Shamleffer was a poet and local historian. The Robert Shamleffer Papers contains four clippings compilations with articles mostly from the 1900s to the 1920s, with a few from mid to late 1800s, and one poetry compilation created by Robert Shamleffer in 1980. Topics of the articles include railways, trollys, and street cars mostly in Cleveland, Ohio, along with copies of transit ticket stubs from the 1930s and 1940s; theatre; President Taft; religion and religious institutions; and other articles centered around Cleveland and Shamleffer's interests. Materials are dated 2005.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Robert Shamleffer (1917-2013) was poet and local historian who grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, but also lived in Willoughby, Ohio. In 1934, he graduated from East High School in Cleveland. During his retirement, he conducted genealogy and historical religion research. He collected articles from the the 1900s to the 1920s, with a few from the mid to late 1800s. Topics of these articles include railways, trolleys, and street cars in Cleveland and surrounding areas including copies of transit tickets from the 1930s and 1940s; theatre; President Taft; religion and religious institutions; and other articles centered around Cleveland and Shamleffer's interests.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Robert Shamleffer Papers contains four clippings compilations and one poetry compilation created by Robert Shamleffer. The clippings seem to be a personal interest of Shamleffer. "Historicals Ohio and Beyond" along with the revised one contain copies of clippings from mostly the early 1900s to the 1920s and there is at least one dated 1891. "Old Time Religion" contains copies of clippings related to religion and religious institutions mostly from the early 1900s to 1920s with two dated 1845 and 1874. "Sic Transit Cleveland Trolleys" contains copies of transit passes from the 1930s and 1940s. It also has copies of clippings of articles and advertisements related to railways, trolleys, and street cars in Cleveland and surrounding areas from the early 1900s to the 1920s. "Subjective Poetry" contains copies of original poetry by Shamleffer, each poem is signed. Materials are dated 2005.</p>
