            <abstract id="ref9" label="Abstract">A. Ottolenghi was born in Turin, Italy, in 1931. He spent his career at Ohio State University, teaching medical microbiology in the College of Medicine from the 1950s-1995. The A. Ottolenghi Electron Micrographs and Photomicrographs of Bacterial Cell Division contain 33 photographs of bacterial cell division taken with microscopes through the process of photomicrography. The photographs depict bacterial strains that lack one gene necessary for division, resulting in elongated and bulging cells.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>A. (Abramo) Ottolenghi was born in Turin, Italy, in 1931, and immigrated to Ecuador with his family in 1939. He received a doctorate in medical microbiology from the University of Pennsylvania. Ottolenghi spent his career at Ohio State University, teaching medical microbiology in the College of Medicine from the 1950s-1995. As of 2017, he resided in Worthington, Ohio.</p>
