Trench art is defined as being created by soldiers, most commonly during World War I, where its creation is directly linked to war and its effects. Trench Art Drawn by Clyde Emerson Comp is a pencil drawing titled "My, How She Has Changed" depicting a soldier returning from war, standing in front of the Statue of Liberty holding a sign that says "U.S.: Bone Dry" in a desert scene. The drawing was made on the back of a torn piece of mail and held together with tape, circa 1918.
