            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Daniel R. Allerton was born in Norristown, Pennsylvannia in 1915, and married Sarah C. Wertz in 1934. Allerton and Wertz seperated several times throughout their marriage, but always reconciled. They had a child in 1940. A final separation occured after Allerton enlisted in 1942, for the duration of the war plus six months. He was a second lieutenant in the 9th Air Force and was in D-Day on Utah Beach.</p>

            <p>The Daniel R. Allerton Correspondence contains six handwritten letters from Lt. Daniel R. Allerton to lawyers Smillie and Bean regarding his divorce proceedings. Correspondence is dated between 1943-1944.</p>
