            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The "Jolt" Zines collection contains issues 1-3 of "Jolt," published in 1977 by Lucy Whitman under the pen name "Lucy Toothpaste." The zines consist of stapled black and white photocopied pages of collages of newspaper and magazine clippings, accompanied by typed and handwritten text and drawings. Issue one of "Jolt" includes commentary on the topics of British punk culture, punk rock girl bands, feminism, violence against women, and anarchism. Issue two, the "Jubilee Issue," includes an interview with and review of the all-female band The Slits; a discussion on Marxism and mass media; and an interview with the owners of the clothing shop, Pollocks. Issue three, the "Huge Bumper Holiday Issue," includes an interview with the singer and songwriter of the band X-Ray Spex, Poly Styrene; an interview about racism with Pete Shelley of the band Buzzcocks; and commentary and poetry on anti-facism, racism, and identity.</p>
