Biographical Note

Dylan Thomas (1914-1953) was a Welsh poet and writer. He was born in Swansea, Wales and left school at sixteen to be a journalist for a short period. In 1934, Thomas' poem, “Light breaks where no sun shines” was published and caught the attention of the literary world. After which he was contacted to write his first poetry volume “18 poems,” which was published in December of 1934. In 1937, Thomas married Caitlin Macnamara and they had two children together, Llewelyn Thomas and Aeronwy Thomas. In the 1950s, Thomas went to the United States where he did tours of poetry readings and talks. During his final tour, he became ill and fell into a coma and never recovered. Albert E. Trick was a close friend of Thomas during their youth.
