            <abstract id="ref2" label="Abstract">Thomas J. Sherrard led several Presbyterian congregations in the second half of the 19th century. He attended Princeton University until 1870, and then married Mary Campbell, who attended Vassar. They spent much of their adult lives in Juniata County, Pennsylvania. The Sherrard Family Letters contain correspondence written between 1852 and 1880. While the writers and addressees are not always definite, it is most likely that all letters were written to or from Thomas J. Sherrard, Mary Campbell Sherrard, or Mary Campbell Sherrard's immediate family. Most of the letters are of an entirely personal nature.</abstract>

He attended Princeton University until 1870, and then married Mary Campbell, who attended Vassar. They spent much of their adult lives in Juniata County, Pennsylvania.</p>
