The Correspondence Received by Thomas Wade Earp includes personal correspondence received by Earp from 1930-1957 from friends of literary and artistic backgrounds. Topics of the correspondence include gallery shows, publication plans, life updates, poetry, artworks, and reviews. The main correspondents represented in this collection are Welsh artist Augustus John and Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. Thomas in particular was a prolific correspondent with many people throughout his lifetime, and often either included poems with his letters to Earp, or wrote the entire letter itself as a piece of poetry. Several of the manuscript poems in this collection by Thomas went on to be published in collected volumes of his poetry.
