Neil Hackman is a poet who founded and edited the poetry magazines "OUT THERE" and "GRAND UNION." He has written several books of poetry, including 1979's Small Poems to God, and as of 2007 lives in New York City.

The Neil Hackman Papers consist of correspondence, poetry written by correspondents for possibly inclusion in one of Hackman's poetry magazines, independent poetry publications, and fliers for live performances. Materials date from 1972-1975. Correspondents include Robert Bly, Robert Creeley, Ted Berrigan, Tom Clark, Paul Carroll, Andrei Codrescu, Fielding Dawson, Gerard Malanga, Alice Notley, Tony Towle, Anne Waldman, Philip Whalen, and others.
