            <abstract id="ref26" label="Abstract">Pulp fiction were inexpensive magazines published between 1896 and the 1950s. They were the successors of penny dreadfuls and dime novels popular during the 19th century. The Minna Glidden Pulp Fiction Manuscripts collection contains eleven typed manuscripts for short stories written by Glidden, one rejection letter, and one unsigned contract. The manuscripts were for submission to pulp magazines. The majority of the short stories are detective stories, with one romance and one comedy. The manuscripts are dated circa 1937-1947, the rejection letter is dated 1947, and the unsigned contract is dated 1937.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Minna Glidden (1874-1958) was the author of three detective novels; 
                <emph render="italic">The Long Island Murders</emph>, 
                <emph render="italic">Death Strikes Home</emph>, and 
                <emph render="italic">Come Dwell with Death</emph>. The novels were published by Phoenix Press which was known for mystery and detective novels. She wrote all three novels under the name “M.W. Glidden." In addition to detective fiction, Glidden also wrote short fiction that included humor and romance.</p>
            <p>Pulp fiction were inexpensive magazines published between 1896 and the 1950s. They were the successors of penny dreadfuls and dime novels popular during the 19th century.</p>
