            <p>Japanese tea houses (chashitsu) are free-standing buildings designed to be used for the Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu). Features found in most tea houses include shoji (transparent windows), sliding doors covered in translucent paper, tatami (floor mats), tansu (chests), and a tokonoma (alcove).</p>

            <p>The Architectural Drawing of Unidentified Teahouse contains two floor plans for a traditional Japanese tea house. The sketches include details for both the interior and exterior of the teahouse. The plans also note that pine and bamboo were used as materials for the beams and other scaffolding in the house. Material is dated circa 1930s.</p>
