 Biographical Note

Harold T. Eaton (1894-1983) was an editor of poetry anthologies, a literary critic, essayist, and a teacher. He served in the United States Navy during World War I. Eaton received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Brown University.

 Scope and Contents

The Harold T. Eaton Papers contains Eaton’s drafts of his essays and stories, clippings of his published articles, and copies of poems and newspaper clippings of articles by other authors. Also included is correspondence sent to Eaton, a black-and-white photograph of him, his Board of Education certificates and references, a 1946 commemorative program for the 200th anniversary of the town of Douglas, Massachusetts, and a copy of the 1927 Brockton High School literary magazine, "Brocktonia." Correspondence and forms from Eaton’s time in the United States Navy are also included. Materials date 1885-1973. Undated materials are likely dated circa 1908-circa 1960, based on the dates found on the other materials in this collection.
