The Cookbook Compiled For Use by "Housekeeper's Assistant" in Staten Island, New York contains a cookbook in a three ring binder. Some of the recipes are handwritten, others are typed or are clippings from newspapers or food packaging. The recipes seem to be for everyday meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but there are also recipes for different courses indicating they are for special events. The recipes contain a list of ingredients followed by directions for how to prepare the meal, some of the recipes do not have a list of ingredients first, rather, the ingredients needed are only found in the directions. There are tabbed dividers, the first half are labeled and the rest are letters of the alphabet. The labeled tabs include "lunch meat course," "lunch 1st course," "lunch dessert," "meats," "to serve with salad," "Sunday supper," "tea," "meats," "soups," and others. The first part of the cookbook is generally organized by part of meal or type of food and the second half is alphabetical by by recipe title or type of food. There are few tabs throughout that are for specific foods, like "gnocchi" or "lobster newburg." This cookbook is dated 1940s-1950s.
