 Biographical Note

John Ciardi (1916-1986) was an American poet. Ciardi was a contributing writer and poetry editor of the Saturday Review from 1956-1972. The Saturday Review was a weekly magazine that covered topics such as literature, culture, and society. In addition to Ciardi's work at the Saturday Review, he also taught English at universities, served in the United States Air Force, was director of the Bread Loaf Writer's Conference, reported on National Public Radio's Morning Edition, and wrote over forty volumes of poetry. As of 2017, Larry Michaels lives in Toledo, Ohio and collects American poetry.
