Biographical Note

Saul Rosenzweig (1907-2004) was an American psychologist and therapist. Rosenzweig earned his doctorate from Harvard College in 1932, and studied topics such as aggression, psychotherapy, experimental social psychology, and repression. Rosenzweig became well-known in his field in the 1930s after he published an article that analyzed different approaches to psychotherapy. Rosenzweig developed a relationship with James Thurber in 1944 when he agreed to help Thurber uncover lost memories, relationships, and life experiences so Thurber could write an autobiography. Although the autobiography was never completed, Rosenzweig and Thurber kept in contact until Thurber's death in 1961. Rosenzweig taught at Washington University in St. Louis from 1948 until he retired in 1975.
