The Max Albert Goerler Photograph Album and Postcard Album Depicting Scenes in Various Asian Locations contains one postcard album of paintings and photograph prints and one photograph album. The postcards depict scenes from Asia, particularly Japan, and the photograph album contains scenes from the Middle East, Asia, and German navy ships, weapons, and sailors. The collection is dated circa 1890s-1930s.</abstract>

            <p>Max Albert Goerler (1886-1962) served in the German Navy before World War I. After leaving the Navy he lived in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, a naval port town. Germany expanded their navy as part of an Anglo-German naval race between 1898 and 1912.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Max Albert Goerler Photograph Album and Postcard Album Depicting Scenes in Various Asian Locations contains one album of hand-painted drawings on postcards and postcards of photograph prints, some of which are hand-colored. The postcards all depict scenes from Asia, particularly Japan, and are dated circa 1890s to 1900s. The collection also contains one photograph album, dated circa 1910s-1930s, with scenes from the Middle East and Asia. Some of these photographs include German navy ships, weapons, and sailors.</p>
