            <p>Josef Kunkler was a sergeant in the 78th Assault Division in the German Wehrmacht during World War II. He was stationed on the Eastern Front in Russia.</p>

            <p>The Josef Kunkler Correspondence contains letters to and from Josef Kunkler, a German soldier serving in World War II and stationed on the Eastern Front in Russia. The majority of Josef's letters are sent to and received from his wife, Gretel, and are dated 1939 to 1944.There are also a few letters sent and received by Margarete Kunkler to the Karl and Carl Paul families regarding a postal barrier in Munich in 1944. The collection does not contain the envelopes the letters were sent in.</p>
