 Biographical Note

Luc Fierens (1961-) is a Belgian avant-garde artist who works in the mediums of mail art and visual poetry. In 1982 he founded Parallel, a magazine intended to be a forum for poetry and drawings. By 1987, he was experimenting with the medium of collage as a part of his visual poetry using found photographs, drawings, stamps, newspapers, and other mixed media; as of 2022, Fierens primarily works with collage visual poetry. He has exhibited his art in solo and group exhibitions across the United States and Europe. Fierens has also created his own magazines and artists' books containing collage visual poetry and collaborative efforts with other artists.

 Scope and Contents

The Luc Fierens Collage Visual Poetry consists of an artists' book ("La storia della storia") and color photocopies of collage visual poetry, all created by Fierens. Some of the collages in this collection are included in the artists' book, while other collages in this collection are not. The artists' book, "La storia della storia," consists of black and white photocopies on colored paper containing black and white collage visual poetry by Fierens with excerpts from writings by friends of Fierens; it was issued in a run of 100 in 2009. The collage visual poetry color photocopies were created by Fierens from 2006-2009; his work is primarily reproduced in black and white, so these color photocopies show the work in a different form than is usual for Fierens.
