Wallace consists of a package Wallace mailed to his home address in Massachusetts from the Little America station in Antarctica in 1935.</abstract>

            <p>Walter Ernest Tittle (1883-1966) was an American artist whose work focused mainly on portraiture of prominent individuals. Tittle worked in the media of lithography, etching, and painting.</p>
            <p>Rear Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd, Jr. (1888-1957) was a United States Navy admiral and an explorer who led several expeditions to polar regions, including the second Byrd Antarctic Expedition from 1933-1935.</p>
            <p>John W. Wallace was a member of the second Byrd Antarctic Expedition. Wallace was a resident of Mattapan, a neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, at the time of the expedition.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Walter Tittle Etching of Richard E. Byrd Mailed by John W. Wallace consists of a package Wallace mailed to his home address in Massachusetts from the Little America station in Antarctica in 1935. The package contains an etching of Admiral Byrd created by artist Walter Tittle, as well as a sheet of paper with Wallace's Massachusetts address, a piece of carboard with the National Recovery Act logo used for interior support inside the package, and the exterior wrapping paper, which includes the Little America stamp cachet.</p>
