                <emph render="italic">Wyandot</emph> during Operation Deep Freeze I (1955-1956). The Frank R. Chapman Papers date from 1950-1959, and consist of items gathered and created by Chapman over the course of Operation Deep Freeze I and immediately after, including a dissassembled scrapbook documenting his trip, an information packet for crew working on the USS 
                <emph render="italic">Wyandot</emph> during Operation Deep Freeze I, and a copy of the final issue of the shipboard newsletter from the trip, "Wyandots and Dashes."</abstract>

            <p>Frank Russell Chapman served in the United States Navy on the USS 
                <emph render="italic">Wyandot</emph> during Operation Deep Freeze I (1955-1956). He died at age 51 in Hampden Highlands, Maine sometime after 1959.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Frank R. Chapman Papers date from 1950-1959, and consist of items gathered and created by Chapman over the course of Operation Deep Freeze I (1955-1956) and immediately after. This includes a dissassembled scrapbook documenting his trip, an abridged signed copy of 
                <emph render="italic">Alone</emph> by Richard E. Byrd, an information packet for crew working on the USS 
                <emph render="italic">Wyandot</emph> during Operation Deep Freeze I, maps of Antarctica, and a copy of the final issue of the shipboard newsletter from the trip, "Wyandots and Dashes."</p>
