            <abstract id="ref30" label="Abstract">Dian Belanger conducted the Deep Freeze Oral History program, which brought together oral history interviews with veterans of Operations Deep Freeze I and Deep Freeze II. The Dian Belanger Papers contain two narratives pertaining to Antarctic exploration and Operation Deep Freeze II, as well as two copies of a cartoon credited to Jack Brown that depict Ellsworth Station during Operation Deep Freeze II. Materials are dated 1955-circa 1957, circa 1990s.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>As of 2024, Dian Belanger is a docent at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. She is the author of
                <emph render="italic"> Deep Freeze: The United States, the International Geophysical Year, and the Origins of Antarctica's Age of Science.</emph> She has served as the associate curator and technical editor for exhibits at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. Before becoming a public historian, Belanger worked as a history teacher.</p>
            <p>Belanger conducted the Deep Freeze Oral History program, which brought together oral history interviews with veterans of Operations Deep Freeze I and Deep Freeze II. The oral histories have been donated to the Byrd Polar Research Center Archival Program.</p>
