Alger Graham (1898-1953) was a photographer and aviator who served as a rescue pilot and member of the 1926 Detroit News-Wilkins Expedition in the Arctic. Graham was born in Michigan, but joined the Canadian Army in 1917. He deployed to Europe during World War I, later joining the Royal Flying Corps, and also trained pilots for the United States Air Corps during World War II. Graham later worked for Alaska Airways and other airlines throughout his career.

In 1925, George H. Wilkins, a veteran explorer of both polar regions, accepted sponsorships from The Detroit News and the Detroit Aviation Society to attempt the first transarctic flight. This expedition failed. From late 1926 to 1927, a second failed attempt, called the Detroit News-Wilkins Arctic Expedition, was made in a Stinson Detroiter biplane. Wilkins and his pilot, Carl Eilson, were forced down in a blizzard and walked for three weeks to reach a village. There they were rescued by other expedition members.
