            <head>Biographical Note</head>
<p>Lloyd Beebe (1916-2011) was a wildlife photographer who was born in British Columbia, Canada and grew up in Forks, Washington. During the Great Depression, Beebe helped his father by logging, trapping, and hunting cougars for bounties. In the 1940s, Beebe began taming cougars and photographed a cougar that rode in the passenger seat of his car. Beebe sent some of the photographs to Walt Disney and in 1949, Disney hired him to train cougars for scenes in the documentary
<emph render="italic">Vanishing Prairie</emph>. After that, Beebe trained and filmed several different animals for Disney movies, including wolverines and polar bears. In 1955, Disney asked Beebe to document a United States Navy expedition to Antarctica, Operation Deep Freeze I, led by Admiral Richard E. Byrd. On the trip, Beebe filmed and photographed a penguin rookery. Beebe photographed Little America V as it was being built, as well as what was left of the four previous Little America bases. He filmed in ice caves and crevasses which were up to 100 feet deep. During the expedition, Beebe went on four tractor train trips and made several flights with the expedition pilot.</p>
<p>In 1972, Beebe and his wife opened The Olympic Game Park, an animal park in Washington. He continued occasionally working with Disney Studios for years. Films he worked on include

                <emph render="italic">Charlie, the Lonesome Cougar</emph>, and
