Edward Evan Goodale (circa 1904-1989) was a polar explorer and researcher who went to Antarctica on Admiral Richard E. Byrd's Byrd Antarctic Expedition I (1928-1930) and for the International Geophysical Year (1956-1957). Goodale's interest in the polar regions began at an early age, when he began dogsledding with future fellow polar explorer Norman Vaughan. The two of them left their studies at Harvard University to join Byrd Antarctic Expedition I as mushers; Goodale also served as an assistant geologist on the expedition.

During the 1930s, Goodale did further research work in the polar regions. During World War II, he served in the United States Air Force, and headed their entire search and rescue organization after the war's conclusion. In 1949, Goodale joined the United States Weather Bureau; while working there, he helped establish weather stations across the Arctic regions. In 1955, he was chosen as the representative for the United States National Committee for the International Geophysical Year. He again sailed to Antarctic with Byrd in 1955, this time on the icebreaker

After the International Geophysical Year, Goodale served as the United States Antarctic Research Program's representative in Christchurch, New Zealand from 1959 to 1968, where he coordinated logistics to support United States scientific research in Antarctica. Mount Goodale in Antarctica is named after him.
