            <p>Campaign buttons are pins that are used during an election as political advertising for (or against) a candidate or political party, or to state the issues that are part of the political platform. The first mass produced election campaign buttons was created in 1896 for the presidential race between William McKinley and William Jennings Bryan.</p>

            <p>The Political Ephemera contains ten campagin buttons from several Ohio politicans including John Glenn, Louis Stokes, Robert Taft, Jr, George Burditt, Howard Metzenbaum, and John J. Gilligan. All but one button for county commissioner were buttons or pins created for senate runs. Buttons from both Republican and Democrat candidates are included. Material is dated 1965-1974.</p>
