            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Marcia Louise Fudge is, as of 2024, an American politician from the Democratic Party. She served as the United States Representative for Ohio's 11th congressional district from 2008 to 2021.</p>
            <p>Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1952, Fudge graduated from Shaker Heights High School, Ohio State University, and Cleveland State University's Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. She later served as the Director of Budget and Finance for the Cuyahoga County prosecutor's office and, from 2000 to 2008, the Mayor of the city of Warrensville Heights, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. She was the first woman and first African American to hold the position of Mayor of Warrensville Heights.</p>
            <p>In 2008, Representative Stephanie Tubbs-Jones died in office. Marcia Fudge ran to fill her unexpired term and won a seat in the United States House of Representatives. Fudge served in that position from 2008 to 2021, and sat on various committees including the Committee on House Administration, the Committee on Agriculture, and the Committee on Education and Labor. She also was a member of the Congressional Arts Caucus, Congressional Black Caucus, Congressional Progressive Caucus, Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, Congressional Rock and Roll Caucus, Congressional Military Family Caucus, Congressional Caucus for Women's Issues, Congressional Diabetes Caucus, Northeast-Midwest Congressional Coalition, Congressional Taskforce on Childhood Obesity, and the Congressional Rum Caucus.</p>
            <p>In December 2020, President Joe Biden nominated Fudge to become the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. She served in that role from March 10, 2021 to March 22, 2024.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Marcia L. Fudge Papers, dated 1983, 2000s-2021, contain materials related to and created during the course of Marcia L. Fudge's terms as the United States Representative for Ohio's 11th district. The collection contains both physical and digital correspondence, resolutions, newsletters, awards, photographs, newspapers, speeches, and research material. Also included in this collection are DVDs of public appearances by Fudge and other events that she spoke at or attended.</p>
