Patricia “Pat” Buckheit was Senator John Glenn’s senior legislative assistant and office representative to the Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees from 1975 to 1999. After receiving her master’s degree in political science, Buckheit began her career with federal internships at the Departments of Justice and Transportation. In 1974, Buckheit joined Senator John Glenn’s senate campaign. After Senator John Glenn was elected, Buckheit joined his office in Washington D.C. as a legislative correspondent. She was eventually promoted to senior legislative assistant, where she specialized in foreign policy, trade, and veterans’ affairs. Senator Glenn appointed Buckheit as his office representative to the Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees. Following Senator Glenn’s retirement in 1999, Buckheit spent two years in the State Department’s Office of Legislative Affairs before she left the federal government and began working in early childhood education as a teaching assistant.
