As of 2026, Mike McCurry is a communications consultant. McCurry received a bachelor's degree in politics and international affairs from Princeton University, and he received a master’s degree from Georgetown University. In 1976, McCurry began working as a press secretary for the Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources. Between 1981 and 1983, he served as press secretary to Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan. In 1984, McCurry joined Senator John Glenn’s campaign for president as press secretary. He accompanied Glenn on the campaign trail and advised him on answering the press’s questions. After Senator Glenn dropped out of the race, McCurry transitioned back to the Senate and served as Glenn’s committee staff when he was chair of the Special Committee on Aging. After leaving Glenn’s office, McCurry served as the director of communications for the Democratic National Committee. In 1995, he was appointed as White House press secretary to Bill Clinton. He left that role in 1998. After leaving his role in the federal government, McCurry embarked on a second career in teaching public theology.
